Layar imejan baru!

Sebenarnya penulis masih mengharap Bing mengemaskini layar satelitnya.

  1. Hi. I was waiting for your post about the new imageries!

I am mapper from Brunei, mostly mapping Brunei obviously, but some times try to help trace the whole of Borneo..

    1. Kind of late reply, but I share the same sentiment with you. Yeah, it’s kind of overwhelming too – however I’ve been busy lately, in this few months. I have decided to remap things from photos taken up to a year ago, but apparently I have to find the suitable time to do so.

  2. Hi,

I am wondering whether as a logistics-based company, what can we do to assist OSM to enhance its database. On top of my head, we were thinking of adding toll data to OSM. We would like to contribute more to make OSM(at least for Malaysia) very comprehensive. Is there a organised/systematic way for us to contribute? What areas/things we can contribute? Let me know if you are interested to discuss more. I’d like to give back to OSM since we are using it heavily.

    1. Sorry, I have missed your reply earlier. Been busy IRL a bit, and my blog needs some love apparently.

As a logistics-based company, there are many ways your company can at least, contribute back to OSM.

First, definitely OSM lacks the name of so many places. Especially places that have been recently developed.

Second, addresses: such as building number and especially, street names. That, can also include businesses and where they operate.

Bit creeping on the legal side, but I guess this is fine – much like any “field survey” is done. Make sure it’s a first hand data: it’s how OSM is made and grown. Not simply copying from here and there, especially without permission.

Last but not least: to a certain extent, if your company has an in-house tracking system, GPS tracks can be helpful too!

Actually, this is a good thing. Let the (small, thriving) community know as well. Because if there is a lot of data from your company, it is known as an “import” where you need to get the buy-ins from the community. See you in the forums: https://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewforum.php?id=60
